‘A Relic of Coral’ was a bead embroidery project centred around the visual imagery of coral. This piece was made into a wearable bag and serves its functional purpose with adornment. Through research of different species of coral, an array of bead embroidery techniques were used to mimic the natural forms and colour. The conceptual aspect of this piece relates to the loss of our reefs and how the objects we make may be the only piece left to transfer knowledge of coral, as global warming is significantly affecting these natural organisms.
