“ANIMAL-LIKE is a series of conceptual-editorial illustrations depicting the contradicting nature of humanity using the guise of animals. The aim is to start a discussion concerning our inconsistencies as a species in a way that mimics educational materials. This points out the flaws in thinking purely in humans' as superior given that we face so many day-to-day struggles in every life as compared to animals us who have mastered their ways of living. ”

Mira is a professional Canadian-Filipino illustrator who earned her bachelor’s in Design at OCAD University. Her main subjects of interest are non-fiction illustrations involving plants, animals and other natural forms of life. From starting off drawing only dogs and making janky picture books stapled together she takes her experience from a lifelong passion of illustration to create detailed works using a mix of traditional (watercolor, gouache, ink, pencil crayons) and digital mediums while using her knowledge on biology, conservation and gardening to educate others. In her spare time, Mira is either gardening, playing fetch with her dog (Mabu) or learning about animals. She enjoys going to the Toronto Zoo and/or bothering friends and family with unprompted animal facts.
